Newbie from The Peoples Republic of Massachusetts

I have just recently found this forum, I want to introduce myself. I am a ex-US Navy Photographer, one time LEO, and collector of Military Surplus weapons as well as BOSTON POLICE MARKED GUNS.
I currently have the following in my collection (not counting the 5 BPD guns)

5 US Navy Victory revolvers (3 US Navy marked, all factory letter to USN)
    2 Victory's in .38 S&W
1 Pre-Victory letters to Britishicon Purchasing agent in 1940
    1 1917 Colt Revolver
    1 1917 S&W Revolver
1 Luger 9mm, Nazi markings and East German Police markings
    1 P38 - Russianicon Capture
1 1934 Berretta Italianicon Army marked
1 1935 Berretta - serial number put it to German Army
    1 Walther PP 1939 .380 Nazi Marked
    2 Russian Nagant Revolvers
    1 British Webley 38 S&W
1 CMPicon Garand - Springfield Armory
    1 CMP M1icon Carbine - Winchester
    1 1917 Enfield
3 No 4 Enfields (or is it 4?) Savage, Maltby, Longbranch
    1 No 5 Jungle Carbine
    1 German K98icon (not Mitchells)
    2 Mosin Nagant 91/30
1 Mosin Nagant 91/30 reproduction Sniper
    1 AK47 Romanian

I also recently traded my Remington Rand 1911 for a Boston Police gun with provenance and a 1862 Springfield musket (non shooter), since my real quest is BPD guns the trade made sense to me

I think I am forgetting something

I enjoy the history on these.

    Military 1911 A-1 NM question

Recently viewed a SA, NM pistol with a stippled front strap. The pistol is an original military rebuild at the Springfield Armory and in near unissued condition. The hammer spring housing is also stippled. The stippling is to perfection.
I have in my collection a similar hammer spring housing that was acquired from a fitter who worked on the original NM line at the Armory, also in new condition.
I have read that the Marines used 1911 A-1 match pistols with stippling.
My question: Is such a NM pistol considered an original military NM pistol?
My first post, hope I am on the right page.

Hi, I'm a proud Vietnam veteran, and at various times, carried the M-1 Garandicon, M-14, M-60, and M-16 while in the Army. I have collected guns since 1972 and am currently working on putting together a selection, of some of the weapons, used by both sides in Vietnam. I recently received a correct grade Garand from CMPicon, and am very pleased, as it has at least 99% original metal finish, and very few dings, on it's excellant condition original stock. I would recommend, to all prospective Garand owners, to check out the Civilian Marksmanship Program, web site. Thanks, Al

    Hello all.....

Hello everyone, new guy here. I've been accumulating for about 25 yrs, no specific tastes. Recently acquired several Garands (1 H&R, 2 Springfields , ) and a couple Lugers ( 1 DWM 1914 30 cal, and 1 DWM 1917 Artillery Luger with stock and holster rig ), everything else I have is modern.
Hope to learn and help out when I can.

    Hello everyone.
I was referred here by a senior member with whom I am close. I am 25 and I live in Pennsylvania. I'm Swissicon so, I have a natural love for guns.
For the most part, I collect long rifles from the WWI time period... but I step out every so often for something Swiss or Germanicon. I also have a nice array of modern Ar-15s, Saiga-12s, and an AK.

A few standouts in the collection are:
German capture Russianicon M91, 1906 date, that is completely untouched except for the German marks as well as the Custrin Depot mark on the receiver. It is the type that has the swivel on the magazine and slots in the bands that the handguard fits right into.
A matching German 1916 Danzig G98 with a Lange Vizier sight in near mint condition with no imports
A Swiss G1911 1916 date in excellent condition
German 1888/05 S in near mint condition... not Turked
1917 dated Italianicon Carcano 91 that was not cut down
    A near mint 1916 Swede 96
    1917 Steyr 95 matching

Oh yes i also have a thing for bayonets, which I guess goes with the love affair with the long rifles. I don't have a rifle with an empty bayonet lug in the house... save for the k98k sniper.

    Hey all,

Have several old guns, including a some military surplus. I'm in the midst of buying more (a Model 1917, a 1903A3, M1icon Carbine) and was impressed with the depth of knowledge here and how it's helped me in my research and decision making. So to all you knowledgeable types, thanks!

    reporting aboard

My name is Mike. I'm a retired history teacher, live in Iowa, and run a parrot shelter. My keep-by-the-back-door weapon is a USGI M-1 carbine. I've previously owned a model 96 Swedishicon Mauser carbine in 6.5X55. I've fired Springfields and Garands a lot, as well as GI .45s, and my issue weapon in the Marines was an M-14.
