Military 1911 A-1 NM question
Recently viewed a SA, NM pistol with a stippled front strap. The pistol is an original military rebuild at the Springfield Armory and in near unissued condition. The hammer spring housing is also stippled. The stippling is to perfection.
I have in my collection a similar hammer spring housing that was acquired from a fitter who worked on the original NM line at the Armory, also in new condition.
I have read that the Marines used 1911 A-1 match pistols with stippling.
My question: Is such a NM pistol considered an original military NM pistol?
My first post, hope I am on the right page.

Hi, I'm a proud Vietnam veteran, and at various times, carried the M-1 Garand
, M-14, M-60, and M-16 while in the Army. I have collected guns since 1972 and am currently working on putting together a selection, of some of the weapons, used by both sides in Vietnam. I recently received a correct grade Garand from CMP
, and am very pleased, as it has at least 99% original metal finish, and very few dings, on it's excellant condition original stock. I would recommend, to all prospective Garand owners, to check out the Civilian Marksmanship Program, web site. Thanks, Al

Hello all.....
Hello everyone, new guy here. I've been accumulating for about 25 yrs, no specific tastes. Recently acquired several Garands (1 H&R, 2 Springfields , ) and a couple Lugers ( 1 DWM 1914 30 cal, and 1 DWM 1917 Artillery Luger with stock and holster rig ), everything else I have is modern.
Hope to learn and help out when I can.

Hey all,
Have several old guns, including a some military surplus. I'm in the midst of buying more (a Model 1917, a 1903A3, M1
Carbine) and was impressed with the depth of knowledge here and how it's helped me in my research and decision making. So to all you knowledgeable types, thanks!

My name is Mike. I'm a retired history teacher, live in Iowa, and run a parrot shelter. My keep-by-the-back-door weapon is a USGI M-1 carbine. I've previously owned a model 96 Swedish
Mauser carbine in 6.5X55. I've fired Springfields and Garands a lot, as well as GI .45s, and my issue weapon in the Marines was an M-14.
