Bolts are defined as headed fasteners having external threads that meet an exacting, uniform bolt thread specification (such as M, MJ, UN, UNR, and UNJ) such that they can accept a nontapered nut. Screws are defined as headed, externally-threaded fasteners that do not meet the above definition of bolts.
So it should be a "king bolt" ... or not?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Well, I am 63 and as a kid, age 10-11 in 1958, I can tell you I drooled over the "Jungle Carbine" ads in Outdoor Life,
Field & Stream magazines. I can still visualize the add showing a guy with a Aussie hat and the cool looking carbine
    with the flash hider.

Not that this made any impression on a 10 yr old or nothing but I do have 4 of them and a certain emotion about them.

I have seen one in Iraq and I saw one in the military museum in Peking.

Anyhow, if one can document earlier than 1958, they got me ~
