WOW ! now to the untrained eye that looks a beauty......am i correct in thinking that is untouched and all original ?.....or ?
Now i have had a swap around i have a complete all matching trigger group with hammer and trigger housing SA number of D 28290 2-SA
This has the early trigger guard on it and is complete..now what era M1 Garand should this be fitted to please guys as i have put the "late" trigger guard now on my Nov/December 1944 M1 ...so its just my 2.5 million one to sort now...:-)
thanks fellas you have all been a great help.
Regards

The rifle in the GB Auction is a partial restoration as stated in the description
I hand picked the rifle years back from the North Store. I changed the Op Rod and stock. I know all major parts were correct.

The single slot gas screw and short fork rod are transitional for this period and on the way out. The cross slot and long fork rod are more commonly seen and used from early 1944 throughout production

I was going to say, I thought the single slot gas cylinder lock screw was wrong but I guess I can buy transitional. It's close enough.

Apparently the milled trigger guard was slowly changed over about the spring of 1944. SA 3,000,000 has an early stamped trigger guard with milled hook. They would have taken time to use up stocks of the forged part.

You have to remember no book is 100% correct and written in stone. Duff will tell you that even in his own book and they are guidlines only
Many original Garands have been ruined by owners swapping parts thinking they were making them correct.

That's true. We've been over that one here time and again.
