M1 Carbine hammer pin question
I am wondering if there is a correct way to install an M1
Carbine hammer pin--from the right or the left side? Everything I look at, read, and see in the old posts seems to be at odds with each other; some say the right side and some the left. Obviously, it will fit either way...is there reallya "best Practice" that I should be following? What do you do? ....JKL

I have mine all installed from the left because I think that's the way they're supposed to be.
I have to admit I see them pictured both ways, even in the gov't FM's and TM's. - Bob

From the left. Look at the size of the trigger housing lip under the pin head. On the left side it is the same size as the pin head so the inside of the stock will hold it in. That is why the head is the size it is.

Thanks Bubba-7, from the left seems to be getting the most positive responses, and your comments about the pin head and the rest of the trigger housing sitting flush against the wall of the stock makes a lot of sense..............JKL
