Eddystone unused replacement stock

I recently glommed what looks like an unused 1917 Eddystone stock. There are a few minor dings, but no arsenal or proof stamps. There is an "E" at the front of the stock, on the forewood.

Did Eddystone make replacement stocks that anyone is aware of?

To my knowledge the US Rifle Model of 1917 .30 did not have any P, circle P, or arsenal marks unless it went through a re-arsenal. The only marks you will find on one that was issued and not re-arsenaled will be an eagle head by the trigger guard(but not always),a number between 1 and 200(inspectors mark on an Eddystone), and or an E, W, or R on the front tip of the stock. That is a nice find, I wish it were mine.

I've found some of these stocks over the years. If there's no sign of final govn't acceptance it's likely a factory reject.

I have a beauty somewhere that is great EXCEPT the buttplate sits so crooked that it hangs over one side of the stock and exposes wood on the other. It must have been a secondary profiling and drilling station where the stock somehow managed to be installed into the tooling crooked!

Others have been noted with knots or checks in the woodwork, and one that wouldn't accept the barreled action (don't remember why).

Probably sold off as scrap after WWI. Some must have entered the spares market at some point.

I went over mine again after RTL questioned the lack of any markings, this time with a high intensity flashlight and discovered a few heretofore undiscovered marks...

There is a "3M" just behind the trigger guard


There is an eagle and what looks like a small "A" in front of the magazine cutout


And a "B" where the lower band would be


No signs that I can see of any metal rubbing wear or any indication that there was ever a rifle installed in this stock

Not a reject, if it has the eagle markings. Those would be govn't acceptance markings. What the others mean beyond inspector's markings, I don't know.

Hard to find stuff! I'm STILL looking for some "new-y" Remington handguards. Only about 10-15 years...

I recently bought a model 1917 eddystone rifle the mechanics in it are still good but I am needing the wooden stock for it..are you interested in selling it ?

I will definitely buy that stock if you are willing to sell it... I've inherited my fathers 1917 but the stock needs to be replaced. How much do you want for it.

Haha, yeah I was going to ask the same question. I guess I'll just get a sporter stock until I can get my hands on the real thing. That's a great find there. :>)
