He also calls the barrel band the 'front clamp' and the trigger group the 'firing mechanism' etc.
He seems to know how to field strip it but just hasn't done much research for before making an instructional video.

Still, you have to hand it to him for trying to help people by making a video.

I won't comment about your looks , but you're a heck of a lot smarter!

I think the breakdown video was a helpful post. It showed rmiller45 how easy it is to break down a carbine.
I just think people making all these gun maintenance videos on youtube these days should learn a little more about nomenclature before they make videos 1000's of people may use.

After watching that video the day topaz posted the link, and considering that comment about the adjustable rear sight meaning it's an 'A2' - I bet he's confusing that with AR type rifle terminology. I agree, you have to give the guy some credit for his confidence - and a halfway decent video. - Bob

Welcome to the wonderful world of USGI M1icon Carbines! Esthetically, the wood hand guard is nicer than the aftermarket perforated metal ones. With that said, however, the perforated ones cool the barrel faster if it is just a shooter. Wood hand guards are still available for reasonable prices, though.

The M1A2 was the short lived designation for the first attempt at an adjustable rear sight equipped M1icon Carbine. No M1A2s were produced by the time the two variations of the current adjustable rear sights were adopted so the A2 designation was dropped.
