But make sure they have the filler in the nose to get the bullet's OAL correct.

I guess it could be hollow up front, too.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I Had contact to PRVI two years ago to ask them for cartridges and bullets. They were very friendly and told me that i have to order 10.000 cartridges and they will do them in any caliber i want to have. I don´t know if it works today too? They have some pretty good competition grade bullets too!

All thie "flat base is best" stuff is probably a fact, but it's also a fact that readily available Hornady .3105 174gn FMJ's, and Sierra 174gn HPBT Matchkings shoot great until your barrel is very worn. At that stage if you go to the Hornady .312 HPBT Matchkings you'll get another couple of thousand rounds out of a barrel. IF you could get MK VII projectiles, they'd be the go, but the commercial projectiles are fine, and accuracy is excellent with a little load development (google, The ladder method)

Any one ever look into making their own jacketed bullets? I've checked into it in the past and it looks like it is not much more involved than basic reloading. Component cost looks reasonable but initial equipment cost looks high.

These people make the swaging press NALAN Swaging System nalanswaging.co.uk Last I noticed it cost about £600. There is a fellow who swages Mk VII type projectiles and sells them - not all that cheaply, but he says it takes about 18 separate operations on each one.
