Lost interest in guns for many years, but the interest is coming back. Milsurps owned:

Four Martini Henrys
Three Lee Enfield No4s
1917 Artillery model Luger


That's about it. Still harbor thoughts of finding a reasonable priced No 4 "T", but am still mad taht I didn't buy the one I ws offered 25years or so ago for $600.
That was waaaaayyyy too much money.

Pretty sure I was a member here before - did you guys move servers?

Hello gentlemen.

My name is Doug and I live in Canmore, Alberta , Canada. I am not a shooter but more of a historian and collector. My primary interest being the Commonwealth during WW1. I have studied the subject for more than a decade and have begun collecting piece's during the last 2 years. I came to this forum because of the specific interest in a subject that I hold dear. lol! I almost never subscribe to these forums because I'm not really a forum kinda guy but you have a clear interest in what I like. I am a new member thanks to "Bill H" of the G503 Military Vehicles Forum. He commented on one of my posts about an M1 Carbine someone was selling and I was very impressed by his evaluation and valuation of the gun. I complimented him on his knowledge and he advised that he had been a Carbine collector for 25 years, had owned hundreds, and was one of the Carbine SME's on milsurps.com and recommended this site to me. Hello, I have just lately joined this group. I live in Southern California and have a used re-import Winchester 30 M1 Carbine for shooting and another gathering parts kit to build up one as a Rifle as an experiment (26 inch barrel is planned instead of stock 18 inch one).
I am retired from USN with over 40 years of credited service, am an Agent Orange and Ionizing Radiation Cold War And Vietnam Vet. The current economic down turn is forcing me to rely on Social Security Retirement to survive, but I am still looking for work.
My Shooter Carbine is Serial 56009xx and is well worn in the stock. I need to find information about improving it's accuracy. The Kit is being gathered around a Winchester receiver (serial 56075xx) and a Saginaw Trigger group assembly. Other items in my collection include a Colt Lightning D.A. 38 Shopkeeper in Nickle with all original matching serial number components that is fully functional, A 'New Navy' Commercial Model Colt D.A. 41 again with the original Armory Rebuild parts and fully functional in Blue finish (it appears that the cylinder was changed out in the Armory Rebuild). Also an 1873 Winchester five digit serial in 44 W.C.F., an 1890 Winchester 22 W.R.F. all in working order(fired with joy on occasions). My Military Service allowed me to Qualify on the '03A3, M1 Rifle, M1911 pistol, and fire for familiarity the M2 50 Cal. M60 30 Cal. and a dual 20mm mount machine guns.
I am reloading ammo for shooting to save money (especially the 38 Long Colt and 41 'Long' Colt ammo) using reduced Smokeless powder loadings to reduce chances of corrosion.
