fergs, short of having all the dimensions of the box you are looking at, I can't honestly say for sure. I don't have any of the other boxes mentioned, so nothing to compare with, sorry.

Just spotted your pics... size could be about right... even if it's only set up in your loungeroom as a coffee table, it's a good box for the money!

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... Well once i get it in my mits and run my peepers over her i have the scematics for the sniper box off this sight and will compare the measurements, so will keep you posted as to the intracasies of this box.Has all the right clips and hinges from what i can see which is a positive, and she is original by looking at the pics, but may discover more to its history when it lobs at my place.

Looks like a bog standard Slazenger Vickers gun box, I wouldn't convert it my self, as Peter has said, you will end up with a Vickers box which will resemble a No.4 T box. As mentioned there is a gent on the forum who makes faithfull reproductions, this would seam a better option as it saves you the hassle of trying to get measurments and fabricating new parts. If shipping would be prohibitive, I'm sure you could come to an arrangement for a kit or some parts plus drawings.

Of course, you may like a challenge and I cant blame anyone for that.

and the answer was that you cant make a silk purse! the main difference is that the little blighter is about 2" shorter id say than the 303 box as my smle wont even fit in the box so ill clean her up and keep it as a vickers/lewis box as the stencilling on her is quite intreiging if only she could talk, once again gentlemen thankyou for all your input!!.
