Unknown Scout Regt. Scope Maker
Help
I have just picked up a new to me maker of the Scout Regt Scope and have not been able to find the proper name of the manufacturer. I have seen HGP on other WW2 optic's but my internet search has come up empty.
For those Scout Regt collectors, this brings the number of makers up to 6; BC, HCR, HBM, KEC, AL Vincent and now HGP.

They say that they were all built to the same spec but dear o' deary me....... I don't believe it. Parts weren't always readily interchangeable between the same makers so different makers didn't stand a chance! Anyone else encountered these problems? All the Ordnance spares I ever remember (except the gland packing etc) were from B&C so it was a case of fit them or nothing
The ocular lens cell assembly threads to first draw tube always needed matching/mating up

As far as I know HGP was Sir Howard Grubb, Parsons & Co Optical and Astronomical Instruments producer, Head office in Walkergate, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and London Office 36 Victoria St, SW1. If I remember forum member Surpmil traced this maker when another member found same marked Sct Regt a year or so ago.
Also sure I had pictures of a TTH (Taylor, Taylor, Hobson) Sct Regt on old PC that corrupted so lost, maybe someone else has one marked as such or similar and will confirm?

Lance, maybe a silly question, but is the Vincent pic yours? The reason I ask, I had pics of a Vincent and I was sure a TTH Tel Sct Regt, but don't have them now. I did have a hard drive fry up a while back and had lost some files that were created between my last save and the melt down. The file name of that pic is identical to what I used to keep them in order of name alphabetically and then serial number within each maker. Being the "a" pic, there would be a couple more... did I send them to you ages ago? If so, any chance of posting any others of it so I can re save them. I will check my back up discs for the TTH pics as well... I suppose it doesn't exist until we find a pic.

Greetings Brad
It is your old photo, my AL Vincent unfortunately is not marked as a Scout Regt but is of the correct pattern. I have two other photo's in my "bank" that might be yours also, both BC's. If you did have a TTH photo I unfortunately did not get it.........
