............... and why should that necessarily be so Mk7? I have imported proofed parts simply accompanied by the correct import paperwork. Have things changed? I'd hate the waters to be muddied after all of DaveN's (and his team of course) work so far

It's worth pointing it out to Americans who don't have knowledge of English laws, and to anyone here who who is tempted to think they can just order without all their ducks in a row and hope Customs won't notice.

most of teh parts arent' proofed though right so the actual blt head could go to the UK
dealer and the other bits directly to the purchaser.

They'll probably be intercepted by Customs anyway, they increasingly look out for people doing this sort of thing.

that may be true but that is not the point - the customs and excise people have NO business intercepting parts which are not proofed and therefore absolutely legal to own in themselves. Surely someone has to stand up at some point and say "ENOUGH!!!!!"

MK7, It seems to me as though you're being unduly pessimistic if you don't mind me saying.............. DaveN and his little hard working crew in the US and back here in the UK have put a lot of their money and technical expertise and effort on the line in an effort to get at least 50 or so previously stripped-for-spares or otherwise needy No7's back into running order. And it LOOKS like they're just about to crack the system. What they want now is a xxxxxxg big round of applause for their efforts and putting their money where their mouths are and where up until now, only two others that I know of, have feared to tread.
Anyone in the UK who subsequently wants some or all of the parts, then buying/obtaining them is absloute simplicity itself. Possessing the major part in England
is also simple but needs plain honesty in the declaration and approval. That's all. Given that, they're yours

Well said Peter, if you look at the various non pressure bearing parts that are sold on the net I can't see it being a problem with the "small" parts however I think that the bolt head itself might cause more problems as it would need to be, I think, imported under license and proof tested when it gets here as part of a complete rifle. If the bolt head and rifle did not carry the correct proof marks and was then sold each person handleing the rifle could be liable to a fine of £1000 for transactions in the UK. I think Brian Dick
hit the nail on the head when he suggested a "Bulk" order done through proper chanels to import the pressure bearing parts to help defray import costs. But that still poses the question of how legal it would be to sell unproofed pressure bearing parts to "the public" ie non RFD's and gunsmiths. The gun laws in the UK are as clear as mud but I am sure there would be a way round any problems that may arise given the will to do it.
What we need to know to start with is how many people in the UK actually want these parts so that we can come to a realistic costing to see if it financially viable.
I will start the count with 4 x sets of "small" parts required to complete otherwise complete rifles.

First let me say a big thank you for you kind words ,it is very much appreciated.
I did discuses the legal shipment of the parts with Brian and I'm certain we can make that work.
Brian, correct me if I'm wrong but the BOLT HEAD BODIES where in service at one time (they are not new parts but may have been striped from new rifles prior to import) so should not need to be pressure tested.

Dave, just go and enjoy your dinner. This 'proofed or unproofed' saga is just a red herring or as we polite English are known to say, in times of verbal weakness, '.......a load of old bxllxxxs'*. You can have a zillion boltheads. proofed or unproofed just so long as you import them and subsequently, possess them lawfully.
* ...load of old bxllxxxs' Used by all ranks in the Army and probably elsewhere, especially to someone a couple of ranks junior, when you have a funny feeling that what they're telling/stating/intimating/implying is not quite as you understand it. Typically it'd be said with eyes agog, open mouthed in amazement '....... are you quite SURE about that? It sounds like a right load of old bxllxxxs to me'
