Looks nice. I don't know if $700 is a good price in Virginia, it is in my area.
Some items I see depend on the serial number? I think it should be close to the end of the block (around 3.94 and higher) to have a pressed rear sight. If it is towards the beginning of the block I would look for a leaf sight. If late, replace the aperture or the whole sight. D clip sling is later.

Hi Mike, here is an IBM that has an original sight. Serial#3957597, I got it as a barreled receiver and that sight with original staking. My pics are a little fuzzy but when you see it they are nice crisp square stakes. The sight still has its white paint. I had the stock and handgaurd and shopped for parts that had the same finish as the BR. It turned out nice.
You got a nice carbine, I think I might have a little less in mine because I already had the wood.
I think you did good at $700.00
Have a good one.....Frank

Mike, This is what I found in newsletter 329 about adjustable sights showing up on IBM"s. There was some overlapping, but these are the ranges for adjustable sights.
IR CO 3876247-3958xxx – 3958xxx
IR CO 7160060 38867xx - 3956234
H shield milled 3932180-3937923

Frankderrico.............Thanks for the photos. The staking on my Carbine looks just like yours. I am wondering......Can I just replace the aperture ??? The existing sight is fully functional. It looks like whatever was holding the aperture in place is no longer there. Looks like it must have slid out of the front of the sight base. I was thinking I could buy a stamped IRCO and just remove its aperture and put it in mine. The finish all matches on my sight and receiver. I also do not have a sight removal tool. Thanks...

Rusty, mine is a IR CO
7160060 just 1723 out of the range, so I'm thinking mine is O.K.
I thought I read somewhare that everything, even flips could be found near the end of production. I could be wrong.....Frank

Frank, Yep There was overlapping, I have a 39269XX and it has square staking also. My sight is a JAO, so I'm way out of the ballpark I guess. But I know my went through re-build cause it has a Marlin barrel on it, but it shoots real good. I keep it as one of my shooters.

Very nice and what looks to be an original IBM. Great score!

Mike, I'm Confused
On the CMP Carbine forum, you say that this carbine has no sight staking whatsoever and say the same thing here. Yet you tell Frank that it has the same heavy staking as his ?? I like the stock.
