Windage adjustable rear sights were one of the features deleted when the SMLE MkIII (No1 MkIII) was replaced by the SMLE MkIII*. All of the early model .22 trainers were conversions mostly from obsolete .303 models and some retained features from the original rifle. It would be unusual for the windage adjustable sight on a trainer not to be "staked". Some were drilled and had a pin scotch keyed to lock the adjustment, others were centre-punched underneath to lock the windage screw. Either way, check yours out carefully as winding the dial will damage something if it has been staked.
