Ah a Kettenkrad. I sure would like to have one of those!

Use it instead of a Quad Bill? They sure were cute. My grandkids would love it! Roaring around...

Great photo! I always thought they were SO cool! I built a Tamiya model of one when I was young.
They were first intended to be carried in JU 52's and used by German
paratroops. (Not air dropped) The majority of them ended up being used extensively on the eastern front hauling soldiers and about anything else through the snow and mud. They were used all over the place from western front to North Africa doing all sorts of towing jobs. They used them late in the war towing ME262's to the runway for takeoff because the inefficient early jet engines burned so much fuel taxiing.
The motorcycle type steering worked just like a motorcycle for steering shallow turns, but when the handlebars were turned sharper it locked the drive on that side so the whole thing would turn sharper.
I think the only vehicle that compared to it was the English weasel - Which I'd also love to have!
(Bill, remind me we need to buy lotto tickets)
