Type 99
Hello,
I hate to post these "what's it worth" questions, but I hope some people will be able to help me out. I have a chance to buy a Type 99, the info I got on it is this:
-AA wings
-Monopod
-No mum
-All Matching numbers
-All around excellent condition
The seller wants $350. Less than two years ago, I bought a Type 99 and a mint bayonet, all matching, no mum, no AA wings or monopod or dustcover, for $200, so I am not up on current values. Can anyone say if $350 is around the going rate for one in the condition I described? Its a jump from $200, but I think I $200 might have been cheap at the time.
The one pictured is mine, but for purposes of comparing condition, the one I have an opportunity to buy would be very similar to mine.
Thanks,
Jim

Two years ago, you got very fortunate.
$350, no mum, but with the bayonet, AA sight, all matching is a fair price. No steal, but if you can see and hold the rifle, and YOU LIKE IT, then it is fair. In a year, what would saving $100 mean anyway?
Good luck

Well said by sfoster - You're not talking a lot of money, so if you like it when you see it that's a great price -
It's there in your hands where you can check it up close, you have a better chance of knowing there's no problems with it when buying it first hand from an acquaintance, you didn't have to pay for going to several gun shows to find it, and none of the headaches, postage and paying a dealer to receive it if you bought it from an auction site. I've bought most of my guns from personal contacts for all theses reasons even if I have to pay a little bit more.

I almost hate to admit this but I have been buying a number of these rifles lately and never paid over $160.00 and that was for an as new last ditch. No bayonet and no mum but the one I bought the other day has an original cleaning rod and intact mum. I paid $140.00 for it. I have seen the prices the bayonets are going for these days but I still see it as too much. JMO
