I know what you are up to here old lancer and i approve!!! they are allowed in the rules and if you read the rules reproductions done faithfully are OK.
So ask Lithy for the details of mounts and scope used, go to the WARA shop and buy a cheap second hand Omark, maybe re barrell and you have a very competitive sniper for the use of.

I am thinking of doing the same thing!!!
Lithy, would it be too much to ask for some close up pics and or a story on the above said rifle?

these are what I was involved in last year(s) for the NRAA.
Chapter 16 of SSR's
Have a read in your spare time.
If you want I can e-mail a copy to you.
as for scopes, I can hear you asking, anything up to but not over original magnification, we thought that would be obvious in rule (b).

16.2.3 Sniper Class
Only original genuine issue military sniper rifles, or faithful reproductions,
may be used in this class.
16.2.3.1 A faithful reproduction is defined as:-
(a) Any rifle that is made up of a collection of non original after market spares.
b) The rifle must be externally complete as issued.

When did a trials rifle, not accepted for service, constitute genuine issue?
If you are looking at reproduction, still looks hairy, externally complete means original style barrel, no adapters, are we going to see a resurgence or am I going to have a market for these old barrels?

We had hells own strife a few years ago... apparently a H barrel Lithgow sporter accraglassed into a synthetic stock with a 3 to 9 X 50 scope on it is a faithful reproduction after you put a bandaid on the magnification dial to "lock" it at 3 power.... I walked, haven't been back!

The problem with the Omark plan is the words "genuine issue"... In our AIHPA rules on class 1b (IIRC) when trying to narrow the class down to No1 MkIII standard rifles only "genuine issue rifles" even meant I couldn't use the No6 as it was never issued. So I couldn't use a reproduction No6 either...
Even though you are looking at a "faithfull reproduction" it is not a reproduction of a genuine issue rifle. I might be reading it wrong...

How about this then, a parker hale TX1200 scoped?
faithfull repro or not?

To me a No6 was issued for trials, if you can prove it was issued on some scale be it for trials, evaluation of any nation of any of the defence arms, then it is good to go within state regulations. the same for the Omark, can you remember what else was trialled or evaluated?
What we where trying to achieve was to be all inclusive rather than exclusive,
and in reality how big is sniper class going to be? remember all Gradings and most of the shoots will be standard class!!!


what extra advantage are you going to have using a No6 against a No4 or No5?

Scopes taped and signed and checked by RO if he wants as he walks the mound, any tampering of you go, remembering that you can make your own rules up to district level if promulgated early to allow all competitors time to become acquainted with the rules.
