Fultons have something similar. I've just rebuilt the P att 18 telescope for it but it does have a No6 Australian No5 style flash eliminator.
I have a view about a lot of these things Warren when there is no paperwork.. Given a hacksaw and a bit of ingenuity, anything is possible.................

Peter,
If it's the same rifle that I saw about twenty years ago the one at Fultons is a No1 Mk3 H T that was partially sporterised & had a flash eliminator fitted by Robin Fulton (supposedly), for a bit of fun many moons ago.........sacriligious now of course......!
Sorry, Warren, must confess I've never come across the rifle you mention, but I have finally wrapped your restoration project No32 Mk1 scope!

That in an interesting group of goodies, Son.
Is that a "composite" or "cleaned up" picture? There seems to be a few places where the woodwork and background change colour.
Anyway, it would appear that the beasty second from the top is another one of the 200 or slightly less of the Australian No6 carbine production, a la the bottom one. Apart from being built on a SMLE action, the extra pointers are the rear-sight bed being set back a fair bit and the different flash hider to accommodate the '07 type bayonet and on the flash hider, the different (smaller) ears.
As for the scope mounting, who knows? Son?

The second from top is similar to the one that Fultons have................

The rifle I am talking about does not have a flash hider on it or did when the picture I have was taken in May 1944. I have the Small Arms Committee minutes of the tests so I know the rifle exists or did exist. A lot of the material from the SAC tests ended up at either Fultons or Parkers after the war...so just trying to see if it did survive and if someone has it. I have some of the SAC records and a binder of records on the sniper trials: rifles and scopes. I'd rather not disseminate some of the info such as serial numbers as the humpers will be cranking them out within the week. I will however; confirm anything anyone has, if it is in the records. Clive and I discussed this at length when I gave him a huge pile of documentation for his book.
The survival of the rifle is purely academic and not really looking to get into a spraying match with anyone as to whether or not it existed or still exists.
Now if I can just get some more info on Brig. E. Ransford who was head of the US and then later Canadian UK Arms Procurement Board. I really have a gem to show there when I get the time and some info from the UK. How do people die of boredom???

We have loads of nameless photos of all things Warren but unless someone knows what he looks like, we're stuffed!
What Clive Law book are we talking about Warren?
