    The last deer I got was using this very same factory load out of a 1-7" twist Colt 6940 as mentioned above. Just to see how it would perform. I was impressed that it completely shattered the humerus on the far side of the deer and exited. The velocity loss due to the slightly heavier 64gr (or 62gr??) bullet and shorter barrel made it extra interesting. Good stalking hunt after a frustrating season. Shot from standing position after having frozen in place at the "high ready" for what felt like 15 minutes, waiting for the two deer to present a good broadside shot clear of the brush. Probably should have taken the second as well, as she just remained in place staring at me after the buck was hit. But, like vintage hunter , I process my own, and doing two in a day is a bit much after having worked all night.
