No.4 barrel markings
I have a no.4 rifle with a PF prefix that was rebuilt 12/48..it has a barrel marking on the flat under the top handguard that appears to be a rifle and a pitchfork crossed and the letters SA below it.Can anyone help as to the maker?The barrel finish is very nicely done very uniform not like a typical WWII barrel. Thanks

It's a South African state arms factory mark. The arms embargo on South Africa forced them to make their own spare parts.

Thanks..This one is my most recent lee-enfield and I have never seen that marking before.If I'm not mistaken the PF prefix is Fazackerly?

I have a PF serial numbered No4Mk1 that has South African property marks. It dates from just beffore the changeover to the Mk2. And it appears it was rebarelled by them in 1967.
