Ah.........., lefties............ is that what you call left handed shooters? We call them 'cack-handed' especially if they've got to shoot SA80/L85's. I worked out a plan for them and it was that all the cack handed shooters should man the L86 light support weapon on the basis that in the burst fire/machine gun role after the first shot, they weren't going to hit anything anyway. Well....., anything meaningful!

Gee, thanks!

Don't loose heart JM............ I mean cack-handed in terms of left handers using the right handed only SA80 rifle and maching gun!

Unfortunately, there's not much chance of that. Given the opportunity, I'd think I'd make do shooting from the right. Its not natural, but training from the off side helps. One never knows when it'll come in handy. Even if you are a rightie.
The L-E is a favorite paritally (and importantly in my case) because it's LH friendly.

My understanding was that sniper's needed to be proficient at both right and left, the position being determined by cover.

I'm not sure about that Muffer. His most proficient attribute is that of killing, or rather, at it's most macabre, killing without a second thought. And they won't shoot unless they can be sure of a hit. So while they concentrate on how they will go about their business, certainly on our courses.

Thanks for those muffett - unless I'm mistaken though your 'bloody pom' is usually described as a New Zealand
sniper at Cassino - so he's a fellow Antipodean dear boy

Interesting Vietnam one with the L1A1. It's definately not the pommy No74 telescope. No carrying handle either - as was the norm there
