As 2 the mystery pistol. I 've never seen one along this pattern but I suspected it was a Vietnam Cao Dai, before I read of it supposedly coming out from there. For reference look at the 'Nam section of " Small Arms of the World" 1969 Edition page 720. This group copied most pistol, and guns were supposedly part of their religion, most of their efforts [copies] were more exacting, but they did take considerable liberties in their creations.

    Maybe WEINBERG blank-firing pistol

Is it perhaps intended as a flare pistol? Or as a starter pistol/bird scarer for firing 9mm blanks)?
Do not assume anything - check the bore diameter and post the result.

P.S: could the name be a badly scrubbed WEINBERG?

I would cosign Viet Nam. I have seen these in 7.62X25 Type "P". Hand made in local shops for the VC. Doug

I don't know if this is Milsurp or not but if any one would know it would be someone on Milsurps.https://www.milsurps.com/images/impo...istol023-1.jpghttps://www.milsurps.com/images/impo...istol024-1.jpghttps://www.milsurps.com/images/impo...istol022-1.jpgI thought flair pistol though it's small and about .30 to maybe 380 cal. Small shot Gun? story was brought back from Vietnam?

I still say too much unnecessary precision machining for a VC pistol. This is a VC capture 1911A1 copy.

Cheap imitation Luger from Mars - NOT

DaveN, to put an end to the wild speculation, as amusing as it might be, how about getting a really good pic of that partially erased name and measuring the bore diameter, like I suggested? And look for any other marks, especially underneath the grips!

Will do. I saw it the other day and saw no markings at all ( even with the grips off ) I also tried to see if I could see any rifling at all and it looks smooth as can be. I will give it a better look this weekend as last time it was after a 12 hour shift and I was knackered.

Ps thanks JP for the nice photo (informative as always)
