Tyrol,
A Austrian company.
Called this CO2 Airgun a Comtik (sp ?? )
Used for training in the early 50's ?
Made to look/feel like the real M1 carbine, but safer/cheaper to use.
My Guess,

Wow, talk about obscure. My guess would be a CO2 pellet or BB gun also. Very cool whatever it is.

I'm not sure of my spelling and dates. But I am sure it's a training gun made by Tyrol ( again sp?).
I got to handle one and was given polaroid pictures of one owned by a friend in the south.
He bought it while stationed in Germany. Back of one picture says it was used by the Austrian Bundasheer (sp?) Defense forces. His writting is horrible, thus adding to my spelling troubles. His example was called a KM1. A note given with his pictures said there were 2 models of these, both used by the Austrians for training. The KM1 was quite a bit more rare than the other style.
I don't know the difference between the 2, or if there are any. Neither do I know markings or how many were made of each model,
I do know they used a original rear USGI flip sight and I think that was the only USGI part on them, maybe the mags also, but the mags didn't hold the ammo used. Seemed like it had a tube for bearings or steel balls it shot.
Recall some parts were plastic and aluminun. His would fire 15rds of bearings/steel balls, then had to have the mag dropped, re-installed, run the slide and good to go again.
It didn't feed the pellets from the USGI mag, but from the tube. 15rds and out was to make it simulate shooting a real carbine with 15rd mag. After a while he had to recharge it with CO2. I believe the stock was not USGI. Some type of stock they tweeked by cutting in a oiler and sling slot to mimmick the real thing. Wood was maybe a European Beech (?)
OK, I'm tapped on what I remember/know............
Hopefully I'm pretty close.
Question now,
Anyone know what the other type like this made by Tyrol was called?
I think it went to another guard unit for the same training sessions.
I know it had another Model name but can't recall (or never did know ) HAHHH !

The COMATIK
Hey Thanks Jim,
That helped BOOO KOOO !
I was pretty close. KM1 and the other model was called a CM1.
Never thought about checking in on the Site you linked. Sure would have saved me a lot of time. I did find the polaroids I was given. Which are of poor quality.
According to the links,
They used USGI Mags, Rear Flip Sight and Rotary Safety.
Here's another link,
Training Rifles
THX Again,
