Thanks much for the reply.

I took a closer look at the sling and saw that the leather (a nice chocolate brown) was marked 'RS402'.

When I did a Google-search for that I found this .... it's for an item being sold on a European Web site - now out-of-date but the picture (when I looked) was still there and I believe that it's for the same type of sling that I've asked about :

Also .... when I gave the sling a really close look I found that one of the parts showed 'NYC' so I suspect strongly that the sling is a copy made on the east coast of the U.S.
