    New collector in Ottawa, Canada

    Hello everyone,

(In a thread on CGN, Smellie recommended that I join this forum.)

A quick note to introduce myself.

I'm 39, married, with one son (age 7), M.A. in History. From a very young age I had a keen interest in military history - particularly WW2. I spent 2 years in the army reserves while in university, a very interesting and formative experience. I've visited Normandy twice, Belgiumicon, Italyicon, and will be in Holland and Germanyicon this coming spring.

Two summers ago my wife and I took our son to France, and after Paris (and the fabulous Musee D'Armee) we spent quite a bit of time in Normandy touring historical sites - bunkers, museums, D-Day beaches, etc...and my son was hooked, and I was a very pleased dad.

I recently took my son to visit a friend with a collection of interesting militaria that he'd been given or inherited over the years. Both my son and I agreed that it would be a lot of fun to start working on a milsurp collection of our own.

Looking forward to learning from, and contributing to, this great community.

    Cheers,

    Stephen
