Actually the magazines can still be imported if "permanently modified" (ie pinned) to hold no more than 5 rounds and semiautomatic centerfires with barrels of less than 470mm can also be imported as "restricted" firearms (same category as handguns basically).

You can get other magazine capacities (I found 5 rounders on Sportsmans Guide), but no way to get around the barrel length restriction.

And sorry to all for the political comment, forgot that rule. I was very irate about these collector firearms being forbidden to enter this country, as I'm sure most here were.
