Looking to buy a 1911

I just saw and held the R1 and it is nice there was another one their that was made in the Philippians in the 400+ range but I didn't get the name? Looked at a few Spingfields (not GI) and a customer told me they were discontinuing their GI model?? I'm going to try and find a WWII rebuilt first cause I want to shoot it but the market seems good for the replicas.

I was told the same thing about the GI model being discontinued by a local dealer and so I called Springfeild Armory and the nice lady on the phone said that the Mil spec 45 is not the 1911 model being discontinued.

Your right the Mil-Spec is not but the G.I. model is no more. I looked at a Mil-Spec at my gun shop. It says in big letters MIL SPEC and the cross cannons on one side also 1911 A1 is also on it too. the finish is parkerized and the wood grips have the Springfield logo and there is no lanyard loop. What I'm saying is it is not your plain Jane G.I. model but would serve that purpose OK. It was $615 and my shop always has the lowest shop prices. Hope this helps. I only wish I hadn't sold my SA GI ultra. I miss that little gun.
Just to add I think it was what they call 1911 Micro?
