1st Range Report of the Year
I took the Enfield T and my new Gibbs 1903a4 to the range in between rain storms and am posting targets from the adventure. Didn't have much time or ammo for precise sighting in but shot decent groups from range cards from last year. Target 1 is the Enfield with scope, target 2 is the Enfield with iron sights, target 3 is the Gibbs shooting 175 SMK, Lake City brass and 53.5 grains H-4350 at 2625 fps. The focus isn't good but 4 shots on spot and 1 low. The rifle came from the factory well sighted at 100 yards. I took the first shot at steel and then shot these 5 shots without touching scope. The fourth target is 178 Hornady AMax same powder and weight. The shot in the center and at 1 o'clock were sighters and the five above the dot was the string. Still without dialing the scope. the Gibbs rifle was a pleasure to shoot, the inletting was tight and everything was so new the bolt lift was tight but after shooting loosened up. Did some shooting at 300 yards but didn't take pictures, next time. Good time but the rain chased us away. Late change, I redid the picture for the Gibbs so it's easier to see.

We had the monthly match for Milsurp and clones so I shot the Enfield and the Gibbs Rifle. These matches are fun because we shoot four relays of 20 rounds plus sighters.
I shot the Enfield with and without the scope and the Gibbs with two different loads. We have six targets to use with 4 targets to be used for score. Five shots per target times 4
determines final score. My best overall score was with the scoped Enfield. 198 12x. I am posting the best 5 shot groups for each relay. These targets make using the small magnification scopes easier by using a white center. Anyway nice way to spend Sunday morning.
