Some of Winchester's receivers only have part of the last number on the receiver. However, as said above, the font of the numbers look more like Inland's font, and not Winchesters. There are exceptions in the font of Winchester's numbers in some Underwood transfered receivers.

I would not remove the rear sight just to prove that it says Winchester. You can use a magnifying glass and a good light to see what's under the sight base, or at least to know that there are not two different manufacturers there. You may even be able to get a picture in the sunlight.
Look at the various Winchesters posted on this forum for similarities/differences The rear sight base is set so the aperture would be centered, or nearly so when sighted in. Then the base was staked so it would not shoot loose. If you have the sight base shifted, it will break the original staking and be difficult to put back into position without being too loose and requiring more work to tighten it up. Removing and replacing a sight is not a casual thing on a valuable collectible.

Well after looking I think the numbers are Winchester, just lighter stamped than most. The spacing between the numbers are wider than usual for Winchester. Most winchester numbers almost touch. I could be a transfered receiver that was mis-stamped. Still thinking. I would like to see right and left side pictures of the receicer to see if it is an Underwood.
Thanks,

Look at the bevel on the receiver under the serial number on any Winchester pictured here lately. See how it looks like a bunch of drunks did it with a chainsaw? Now look at the OP's - nice and smooth and round like all the others did it. So, with an impossible serial number and a receiver that escaped Winchester with a cute butt, is it really a Winchester at all?

Yes, that round is typical of some Underwood receivers. That is why I think it is a transfered receiver mis-stamped. But have to see other pictures.

I noticed that as well. The Winchesters also have a decidedly pointed top shape. The carbine in question looks like someone took great effort on that area.

Wincheater stamp!! Pictures
Hope this helps! Took several foil & floss rubs and there is nothing besides Winchester under the rear sight. I will take pictures of anything else that might help! Thank you for all your help!
