That's a real scabbard. If that's the one you bought you did well. The grip scales are around and shouldn't be hard to find. Don't throw out the walnut, you'll be able to sell them later.

    Thanks for confirming me that.
Yes, it was that one I bought yesterday.
I already found and bought the plastic grips at Italianicon ebay, I hope they can fit a M1905 bayo.

Bizio, why would you want to replace the wooden grips with plastic? If the wooden grips were in good repair, the US Army left them in place through WW2 unless the blade was shortened to the later M1icon configuration or the bayonet was reworked to repair serious damage that took the bayonet out of service. Yours never went through this indignity in service and it would be a shame not to leave it as found to preserve it's history. As I said, the wooden grips stayed in service with the Army, Marines and/or Navy for as long as the bayonet was in good shape for service, not all were replaced.

gew8805, I was not aware of that, thank you for your advise.
I tought that wooden grips were replaced during WWII also on 16" bayonets before they were cut to 10".
This is the photo showing how one of the two grips has been repaired, unfortunatly not really a god repair I think.

I will keep the wooden grips even if my original intention was only to replace with plastic ones and to store the wooden grips safely.

I had found wooden grips in Franceicon but I wonder if they are original or just a reproduction.

Ah, with a better look, it appears that you can replace them with little fear, those are very rough.

The original wooden grips, if in good condition, were used on the M1905 bayonets as long as the long '05 stayed in service unless the bayonet needed complete refurbishment. When the long bayonets M1905 and M1942 were shortened and otherwise reworked, the plastic grips replaced the early wooden ones regardless of their condition. As far as I know, you will not find an officially shortened bayonet with wooden grips.

    Hello browningautorifle,
I never forgot to post here the photos of the scabbard I had bought ad ebay.com at end of February.
The real problem is that I never received it yet. I used for shipment e Freight forwarder, TEC Corp Miami owned by Alex MacKenzie, who was in charge to receive at a mailbox with them in my name in Miami my items and to reship them to Italyicon.
It seems that those people used to declare a lower value of the shipped goods in order to avoid VAT and custom duties and the UKicon custom in London confiscated all they where shipping of 2 cargo flights.
I am in trouble with at least other 50 or maybe more Italians waiting for items bought in US and which never came here yet.
Is there a solution to stop such company business ?
I thought to send a complaint to US Embassy in Rome and to the Federal Trade Commission in US.
Any suggestion is well accepted since you all know better than me the US laws.
    Thanks.

I had repurchased the scabbard which should be delivered to me directly to Italy.
Unfortunatly it was more expensive than the first one I boght.
