New to the Forum and to a Springfield 1903A3. All Remington parts in VG to Excellent condition except for the dreaded National Ordnance receiver. I know it's not a "real" A3 - yet - but it's a start. The search for a Remington receiver has already begun and will continue until I have one. In the meantime, it's a very accurate shooter.

I've already read a lot of threads and have finally found the place I need to be.

I'm new to the forum, and looking forward to learning more about the M1 carbine. I have an early Inland, SN 96XXX, which was probably built in December 1942. When it went through depot overhaul it got an Inland barrel marked 5-44, which I want to replace with one marked 12-42 or thereabouts to be consistent with the receiver's SN.

Hi just joined my first forum, not sure how this all works. I am on a mission! Long story... fairly short. My father served in the Army Air Corp in WWII. He met and married my mom in England in 1944. My brother was born there. Dad bought a sporter Enfiield in 1960s for my brother to deer hunt with. My brother absolutely loved this gun, 2 markings he remembers vividly, "England" 1945, same year he was born there. This rifle was extremely accurate and had the sniper scope mount, full barrel, the wood was modern. Sadly, this rifle along with other guns were stolen. The mission, to find a rifle that would approximate the rifle he had. Mom and Dad have passed away and I am on a mission to purchase a replacement rifle for my brother to hunt with. Not new to shooting or forums - I still remember when one had to know code to get on the early bbs systems! I have been a shooter all my life. I also reload for all my firearms. I've been lurking on this forum for some time now and finally thought I'd sign up as there has been some pretty good information found here.

I'm also a machinist. I have a small shop that I use for my personal items and find working with metal is a fun thing to do. As well as saving me money by building it as opposed to buying it.

I have shot competitively in handgun and rifle but found it too expensive as well as taking time from things I wanted to do that had no schedule. I own a few rifles that I consider MilSurps, a 1944 LE (T), a 1966 Ishapore, an 1898 Carl Gustav 6.5X55 Carbine, and my Dad's 30 Carbine is now owned by my son. My Dad's carbine was the one he carried as a tail gunner in B-17s during WW-II. None of them are safe queens and I enjoy shooting them.

I served my country during the Vietnam War as a radio operator with 5th Comm Bn. We were the pool of radiomen who went wherever we were needed. So I got to spend time with the infantry for most of my 13 months there.

If there are other burning questions feel free to ask as I am pretty open about who I am. I do have several interests with shooting being number 3 on my list right at this particular point in time. I'm building a 1953 Ford Hot Rod and attempting to restore a 1938 Harley chopper my Brother built back in the early 70s. Probably more of a project than I wanted but it keeps me out of mischief!

Hey all,


A very newly-minted convert to the milsurp rifle (my first rifle purchase two weeks ago, Longbranch No.4) I'm coming here with pretty much nil experience but a great desire to learn from you knowledgable guys.

Belong to a service rifle club, have spent that last almost 3 years shooting the club's modern scoped hunting rifles (ie "cheating" according to the club member who sold me the enfield lol) so I know this is gonna be a hell of a steep, but rewarding learning curve.


My father served during WW2 in Burma with a Scottish Regt; he obviously would have used a No.4 so part of its attraction for me is due to that fact.


Look forward to finding out more about my new obsession. I'm presuming the uncontrollable urge to polish with a silicon cloth dies off eventually?
