Attachment 31513 This is supposed to be Charltons Heston's Man Cave. I think I have an Idea for those of you who are married. Convince your better half she needs a "storm room" to be safe from all the wild weather this spring. Two birds. One stone.
Hillbilly. This is the best thread idea I have seen. I'm a bit envious of the displays and a bit disapointed I did not come up with the thread.
Keep them coming guys.

Thank You Very Much for your kind words HOOKED ON HISTORY.
I think about my Grandad a lot sometimes, He was my inspiration for building my wall, A War vet, and he has long since passed away. But sitting here, often, I think of him, and in reading here, the post's and the pics abroad, the wide range of spectacles yet unseen. I just had to know I suppose, was there more to see, more than just the things on my wall, and more than the memmories in my family that these kinds of things stood for.
I don't know, and never will know the stories untold from the screams in the night, the Hell'ish nightmares that my Mom's Dad lived with each and every day of his life. He faught in WWII somewhere on the Island of New Guinea. That is where his nightmares began, and they never ended.
I was very young, and had never heard such screams from a man. Peoples names, such terrible things. I could not do anything for him in my youth, nothing that would ever have helped with that, but I can in his stead, I can remember who and where he was, I can remember the pain that he suffered each day for all of his family back home. Adding to that, I can build my wall, such as it is, and I can continue to always remember the hardships he lived with. I built my wall for him, and for those he served with that I have never met.
No matter where I am, or where I move off to in this world, My Wall will go with me, and my memories and thoughts of him will always be there with me too. There's always space on that wall for more memories, more "history" and more of that great man that I once knew as a child. That's how this whole thing started, where it will end is up to each one of us. We all have our resons, some for fun, some for entertainment, and somewhere out there, just like I have done, someone else remembers his Grandad, or someone close to them, in thier own way. Just keep em' coming for as long as we can..... HILLBILLY-06.

Your sentaments are close to my own. My father and maternal grandfather served in the PTO in WWII as well my father on a ship as a pharmasist mate and my Grandad in the Phillipines. So much I do not and will ever know. Some of but little of my collection is personal items of theres. I suppose my efforts to collect and preserve is to make up for what I do not know while preserving a small part of the general legacy
of those who served as did my father and grandfather. Now I just need to come up with a way to display and share these items as you have in a manner where I can leave my home without fear of items being stolen and ending up in a pawn shop somewhere. I am glad to know there are others who share my passion. Thanks to you and to all those here who endevor to preserve the legacy.

A square 10 My biggest concern would be a fire. I keep mine in a fire proof safe. At this time I only have one hanging at a time over the TV. I think it's great to display them like you have done though. I think you can enjoy them more your way then keeping them locked away all the time. When the kids move out ( and I'm still alive) I think turning a room into a gun room with wall displays will be the order of the day.
