Commando dagger
Just picked up at an auction a Sykes Fairbairn (sp) dagger. Looked for one for several years. Marked "England
" on cross piece. Greta shape except the previous owner (idiot) tried to remove the rust witha fine grit grinder! Still read England.
Nice balance and really made for between the ribs. Sheath has Kenneth scratched on it.
I will post images when I get a chance... I believe Type three

Just keep in mind that those Sykes-Fairbain daggers were available to anyone who wanted one during the war, including U.S. troops stationed in England
. AND they still made them AFTER the war.

Quote from Ron Flook's " British
and Commonwealth Knives". "Some WWII vintage knives can be found stamped ENGLAND on the crossguard, a mark was a was added to knives sold to the USA
after the end of the war. From info. provided by an American collector it appears that in 1947 a southern Californian firm purchased some 167000 surplus Commando knives from the British gov't. The crossguard were stamped with country of origan and the knives sold on $2.95 each."
