I joined 8 or 9 years ago shortly after buying my one & only M1carbine, and greatly enjoyed the info in the newsletters. After submitting an info sheet on my M1 carbine, I thought I was done, but the Carbine Club had a different view. Along w/their renewal forms, I got a letter stating that they expected me to periodically report on carbines that I saw, in detail. I replied, in writin, that I only had the one, & that I didn't normally associate w/other owners, or frequent places where I might be expected to run across carbines. After this, they took a rather stern tone w/me & informed me that they were a research group, basically, & that if I didn't want to participate, I should not renew my membership. I followed their advice & haven't regretted it since. Your mileage may vary, of course, but this was my experience.
