I understand that a whole shipload of the opposed twin HDs
went down from a German
torpedo. All those brand new bikes, gone.

What a waste. I wouldn't mind having a WLA in the garage. With a leather carbine scabbard of course.

Dave, those were the XA. Left hand throttle and shaft drive. There were somewhere around 1000 made. Wow!

Bill H,
Why was this moved from the carbine forum?
Is it considered Off Topic?
Thx,

Doug,
The 'Bikers' would know more about the value.
I do know they are collectible.
I was just trying to share the links of real WWII pictures of both the carbines and bikes in action.
You know how these Bikers are !
Appreciate Your Time,
Charlie

Interesting Charlie ...
So, the carbine saddle holster was issued as part of the kit for the motorcycle and not as an M1
Carbine accessory? Maybe that's why we don't see them very often...
By the way guys, moving threads aren't necessarily a bad thing.
When a thread gets moved, it leaves a permament trailing link in the originating forum where it came from. So, it's effectively the same as making a duplicate copy of the same post in another forum, which actually gives more members the opportunity to view and interact with it, posting in the single thread resulting from the move. It's like leaving a bookmark in the current forum for reference, which everyone will see and the when clicked on, it takes them to the full thread view.
I often use a thread move or thread copy to show content that has interesting value across multiple forum topics. If you are posting a thread that you'd like to see viewed across two forums at the same time, simply let a moderator know and they'll set up the move and flag for you.
Regards,
Doug

Thanks for the explanation on moving threads. Just didn't see a reason as it is carbine related.
The leather scabbards in very good and better condition are $400 or more in my area.

I've been real busy and working a lot of overtime these days. Dang IRS!!!
I didn't mean to start anything here fellas. I just felt it would better on the OT forum where more could see it. Nothing sinister.
I've seen carbine scabbards go for $500.00 in as new mint condition. More hover around $200.00 to $300.00. I wish I had one.
