Range report........finally....
I finally managed to sneak away for a couple of hours the other day and shoot my Arisaka
type 38. I'd picked it up at a gun show here in Florida for just under $200, although it was missing the safety knob, the firing pin, and the firing pin spring. The bore looked great and everything else just needed a little cleaning. I was able to get the parts I needed online for about $70. All the parts went together without any trouble. With rifle and ammo in hand ( and a 1932 Mosin I'd picked up while waiting for my parts ) I headed off to my local gun club range. The first thought that came to mind was "SWEET" because of the very light recoil. The second thought was "tack driver" for the group I managed to get from it. All in the X ring or on the line of the man size silhouette target @ 50 yards. I know....I know....it was kind of a crappy day and I didn’t feel like walking all the way out to 100 yards.....so sue me. For a nearly 80 year old rifle that’s seen military & school use it’s not too bad. Oh, the Mosin wasn't such a bad shooter either but that's another long winded story.

Nice rifle.
I did almost the same thing a couple of months ago. Like yours mine had the mum intact. It had a screwed up rear sight and was missing the follower and spring. Found the sight on E-pay and asked the seller about a follower and spring. He had a couple so I took his BIN price on the sight. We came up with a price for everything. The rifle and parts cost $180.00 total. Sometimes you get lucky.

Range Report
I went to Northeastern Ohio to visit a new Arisaka
friend a couple of summers ago. I was able to find plenty of 6.5mm ammo to shoot. We did a range shoot of several different military surplus rifles including the arisakas Type 99. It was very accurate and smooth to shoot. I have several in my collection.
