The Norwegian
Mauser frontsight blade is a broader one, like you find it on the Swiss
rifles, not the "Dachkorn" like the german variant.

I've been on the road. Sorry about not respomding sooner. Yes, indeed, the Norwegians did install a new front sight of there own design. I am in need of a real Norwegian
front sight blade. Anybody out there have a lead? Thanks.

HI i recently purchased a Norwegian
k98, 30 06 caliber with blond timber in great condition, it dose not have the Norwegian, issued front sight post, i have fired this rifle out to 300 yards and it is extremely accurate, the Norwegians modified the rear sight from a v to a u notch which i find a much better sight picture. I am also on the look out for a norwegian front sight post i am making inquires over here and if i come across any i will let you know, i have tried to post pictures of my Norwegian k98 but i failed to upload them to this site.

I had not known they had a different front sight. I will have to look at mine to see. Did any other non original parts get subbed when these were rebarreled to 30-06 or 7.62?

Good pictures of your Mausers gentlemen. Interesting information.
I thought they would be the same except for the notch out of the receiver and a difference in graduation for the 30-06 ammo.
I was looking for one for the Norwegian
K98k
30-06 Mausers for my collection. Eventually I will find one, just have to wait, my patience usually pays off.
