That's a real scabbard. If that's the one you bought you did well. The grip scales are around and shouldn't be hard to find. Don't throw out the walnut, you'll be able to sell them later.
Hello browningautorifle,
I never forgot to post here the photos of the scabbard I had bought ad ebay.com at end of February.
The real problem is that I never received it yet. I used for shipment e Freight forwarder, TEC Corp Miami owned by Alex MacKenzie, who was in charge to receive at a mailbox with them in my name in Miami my items and to reship them to Italy
.
It seems that those people used to declare a lower value of the shipped goods in order to avoid VAT and custom duties and the UK
custom in London confiscated all they where shipping of 2 cargo flights.
I am in trouble with at least other 50 or maybe more Italians waiting for items bought in US and which never came here yet.
Is there a solution to stop such company business ?
I thought to send a complaint to US Embassy in Rome and to the Federal Trade Commission in US.
Any suggestion is well accepted since you all know better than me the US laws.
Thanks.
I had repurchased the scabbard which should be delivered to me directly to Italy.
Unfortunatly it was more expensive than the first one I boght.

Hi,
I got the scabbard today, it is original and as it was described in the ebay auction, it is entirely painted in OD, also the top metal part.
Do you suggest me to leave as it is now or should I try to remove the OD paint at least from the metal part with some solvent (turpentine, acetone etc etc) ?

I would gently brush acetone on with the scabbard held mouth down. Don't let the acetone touch the rest or it may do damage. Using tupentine and fine steel wool may work too but I would still do it upside down. Wipe off with paper towel after to clean as you go...I'm sure you'll get more on this.

I like this book as a reference. I have III and IV. Also have the later book combining all of Cole's books done by Mike Silvey. It is easier to find and way cheaper then original Cole books.

Hello JimF4M1s,
I finally bought this book

but is has nice pictures, or better, nice pencil drawing images, but just very very short descriptions of knives and bayonets.
Any other book to recomend me please with more description of history and details, diferences among models etc etc ?
Thank you.
