    RA 03A3 w/ 2 Groove Bbl, in a C-Stock

    Hello All,
Were Remington 03-A3 rifles always placed in a stock at the time of manufacture?
    I realize a complete, war-time 03-A3 rifle would be in an S-Stock...
Were any barreled receivers left "un-stocked" at the close of WWII?
    Thank you.
    -Bill

I've never seen any discussion on that (barreled A3 with no wood) nor have I read anything about that scenario.

Production of the 1903a3 stopped at the beginning of 1944 but parts ( barrels, etc. ) were made until the end of 1944. These parts would be used by arsenals in repairs etc. since the use of the 1903a3 did not end at the close of the war.

Remington received a parts-only contract in 1944. They made 750,000 spares of everthing but receivers and stocks. I coud be wrong but the original contract was for finished rifles, no barreled receivers.
