LST-587 participated in the Iwo Jima and Okinawa operations. After the war she performed occupation duty.

Launched, 19 July 1944
Commissioned USS LST-587, 18 August 1944
During World War II LST-587 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific theater and participated in the:
Iwo Jima operation;
(a) Assault and occupation of Iwo Jima, February 1945
Okinawa Gunto operation;
(a) Assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto, May and June 1945
Following World War II LST-587 performed occupation duty in the Far East until February 1946
Decommissioned (date unknown)
Transferred to the Military Sea Transportation Service (MSTS), 31 March 1952
Placed in service as USNS T-LST-587
Placed out of service and struck from the Naval Register, 1 June 1972
Final Disposition, sold for scrapping, 17 September 1973, to S. S. Zee, Inc., Taipei, Taiwan
LST-587 earned two battle stars for World War II service
