I don't know alot about Garand
either but you might want to have a gunsmith check it out. I have read on CMP
forum where a lot of guys buy them swap parts around to make another one more correct then sell the others. Was bolt swapped? Was headspace checked? could yours be one? Guess it would depend on seller. If it checks out ok probably be good shooter as far as I know. Maybe someone who knows more will say. Looks like what they call a mixmaster. you can also learn alot by searching this forum I've learned alot in the short time I've been looking.

This one looks like it may have been to Denmark
and done service like thousands of others. If the parts were OK when inspected they were left alone. The mix of old and new parts sort of show it didn't do much after re-barrelling in '47. Maybe one quick go in Okinawa and then after the war it would have been re-done. The stock and bolt are characteristic of the Danish guns. Some of the early parts might be worth a premium to some, but then what do you have to shoot? As stated, it's always a good idea to have it inspected by one who's familiar so it can be deemed safe. Who knows for sure...as TMB stated, it could have been slapped together by John Q Public.

Follow up...I checked with the seller..apparently, some of the Garands that were returned from Denmark
that ended up at the CMP
had terrible wood. He purchased the gun from them "woodless" then purchased the stock and hardware from CMP...he found the paperwork that came with the gun and is mailing it to me...I'll report on what that says. The seller knows guns and reports the gun fires fine. How accurate, I don't know...I'll get to the range yet this week and see how it does...thanks for the quick replies....

It'll be fine. Get some ammo from CMP
while you're at it.

Received the paperwork the seller had that came with the rifle from the CMP
...Was obtained from CMP in Oct of 04....Along with the book and Certificate was a tag that had the muzzle and throat erosion numbers, both at 3. Where do those numbers fit in as far as overall use? Should I expect the rifle, all other things taken into account, to be relatively accurate? How much wear would those numbers indicate? Ive read it sorta indicates 1000 rounds per thousandth inch, meaning the Muzzle and Throat have 3 one thousandths of inch of wear? Still ok to shoot?

Nice Rifle, looks like a typical WW2 Rifle that was used by Denmark
and restocked with Beech. It also has some pretty desirable early parts.Welcome to the Forum BTW!

Nice post...if you read his previous you would see he did that himself. Not the Danes.

Thanks for the welcome. I need to research those parts just to see from whenst they came!!! I think tomorrow is range day. Will report on accuracy if I can get out there.
