1895 Chilean 7x57 Ammo
I need some advice, expertise. What commercial ammo do you shoot in your 1895 mauser. Mine is all cleaned and ready to the range as soon as I get some feed back. Winchester, S&B, What bullet weight etc. Thanks.

Hi JMJ,
if you are a reloader than try Sierra 140grs TMS with 41.0grs of VV N140 Primer CCI 200 OAL 78.0mm. Should give groups between 40mm and 50mm.

JMJ,
Best 7mm ammo I ever got was Belgian FN, dated from the late '50s and with info printed in Spanish on the box. It was hot stuff, clean-burning, non-corrosive and **very** accurate. I shot a lot of it in a rolling block rifle, had to use a stick to knock the block open after firing. I wish I had bought a caseload, but I think I would quit while I was ahead shooting it in the rolling block. Knowing what I know now.

JMJ, I don't knw where you're from but any 7x57 ammunition that is commercially loaded in North America, is loaded to about 40,000 psi, in defference to the "weaker" 91,92,93,94,95 actions. Any of them should be safe in your rifle. They usually are quite accurate. The Privi Partisan ammunition is a bit hotter but not much. Some of the older Norma stuff is really hot. Your call on that stuff.

I just got a Chilean
1895 7 mm Mauser myself
I also got almost 2 full boxes of ammo one is S&B 173 gr bullets and the other is Prvi Partizan with 139 gr bullets.
Only 3 rds were shot of 173gr. ammo when I got ammo, but wonder if this ammo is safe to fire in the 1895 ??
Can anyone tell me if this ammo is safe or do I need to breakdown ammo and reload with LIGHTER amounts of powders?
Thanks I need reload data too if anyone has any?
