I think you may be finding problems that dont exist. Before going any further start at the begining as already suggested , the basics
Check one thing at a time, cross of list
You cant go jumping around or you never will find out what is causing the issue

    GARAND UPDATE:
I finally got some free time today, and looking at my calander, I noticed it was Saturday. Thats the one day a week that guy who knows all about and sells Garands, is actually at the store where I bought mine.
So I called him this morning, and told him about what my rifle was doing, (short cycling) I beieved, is what it seemed like.
He was really nice about the whole thing, and said heck, "all my stuff is guarnteed to work" just bring it down here and I'll fix it... "SO" I took it down there to let him look it over. Man that dude was great, he didn't try to blame anybody for missuse, or neglect, or nothing, he didn't even put any of the suspected parts under a microscope, (Like some dealers have done in the past) He just pulled off the stock, turned her over, and began to just pull the suspected parts off. He right away removed the Follower rod, the Operating Rod Spring, and the gas Cylinder.
He then went and got a brand new Follower rod, Op-rod Spring, & rebuilt + refinished Gas cylinder, and stuck it all on there at no cost to me. He was Glad to do it, didn't give me any problems at all. I will say, as far as I am concerned, that puts his "customer service" up on the top shelf, far above that of other places I have been before.
"I haven't been to the CMPicon store yet" so I don't know, but I hear they are the same way. Just outstanding all they way. Anyhow, I just wanted to say, that "Bobby" down there at the shop is "top Notch" and cares about what he sell's people. They are the Oxford Pawn and Jewelry" store over in Oxford Al, so if the racks are low on Saturday, this is another place to go try to find an M1icon garand jewel, or just another Garand for the collection.
    "Thanks Bobby"..............HILLBILLY-06.

No, I haven't shot it yet, there was just a moment when I thought about doing it in the back yard, but just then as I was thinking about it, I heard some full auto gun fire back down the highway somewhere, less than 1/2 mile away, so I didn't want to even think about going out back with my garand. I bet a lot of people called the cops after that idiot down the road. I din't want the attention that goes with the Garandicon, as loud as it is. I bet some "BOZO" got a new shiney AK varient and was bump-firing it all over the place.
So, to my disapointment, no I decided to wait. "I still need to tear it back down and grease that new op-rod spring anyway" just so it gets done before I forget, plus all the kids around here are out of school, So until my buddy accross town wants to go back to the range, "I'm just sitting on iddle hands so to speak".

    Smile

WELL, I SHOT IT NOW! "It works like it's supposed to" thank goodness.... "sure was loud in this holler too... I'm sure the neighbors didn't care for it much, "But I liked the hell out of it"
Now as soon as $$$ pemits me, "I'm off to the CMPicon south store for more ammo"
It may be a while before I can make a real range session again, gather more target data, and just shoot my Garandicon, worry free.... HILLBILLY-06.

I found this very interesting. All of my Garandicon experience was High School ROTC and I remember wondering if the front sight should be that loose. Every year the Officers would take us on a bus trip to a local Army Base and they would allow us to fire several clips. All we ever did otherwise was clean and oil.Thank You for the post.
