Here are a couple of L1A8 IWS. There is a PVS-2B tucked in the middle.

Strange.................. The big old IIW sights are as per normal but the internal spec of the case doesn't look like anything we recognise here as there's none of the other bracketry to fit the sight to the L1A1 rifle, M-16, GPMG or Carl Gustav.
What are the two bblong blocks and copper coloured thinggy in the bottom left corner. Is it a sight or just an clear observation IIW?

Peter, I also noticed the difference in the case and lack of the mount brackets for the different weapons systems. Could it be that the IWS sights pictured are cased for export sale to foreign governments and not necessarily out of British
military service? Your thoughts? I'm just guessing.

Mmmmmmm, definately the same as ours. Have you got the user handbooks CZ? Have you got any BDL
? I'd be interested in seeing what the grat pattern is because it LOOKS like it's the what we used to call the NODDY variant (a squaddies play in the night observation device initials). Whatever it is, it's a nice find and if you remove the universal bracket, you can bolt the IWS bracket straight on and you're the proud owner of a night-sighted L42. A RARE bird indeed and worth a couple of ££

Will see if I can manage a picture of the grat. As I recall both IIS have the grat as listed on Pg. 5 of the User Hand book with hold / lead points A through J
Brian(BDL) setup me up with all the user handbooks. Very helpful.

There was a parallax effect in the first picture, sight was slightly canted in the last attempt. The clarity was perfect, pictures are not representative.

That's the rifle sight picture (as opposed to the NODDY or Artillery sight pictire) and the different vertical lines indicate the different weapoon aiming points
