If I remember right the NBA sporter had a finger groove stock. Not as nice looking as a NRA IMO. The NRA's were somtimes modified by G&H into some nice looking classic rifles.
Here is a pic of my NRA sporter made in 1924.

Had to go look in Brophy's book. As it's several hours later the exact details are falling out of my head, but IIRC the "NBAs" were all done in 1926- less than 600. Basically the same stock as on the .22s (with the finger grooves as pointed out above) but with cross bolts.

Lots of the .22 stocks were surplused in the 1950's. This rilfe sounds like a standard rifle stuck into a surplus .22 stock. Likey a nice shooter, but not special by any means.
