Does it have a bayo lug? It looks pretty sweet. The push button safety is what they had in the beginning before being arsenal rebuilt. We need to see your barrel!! Does it have a bayo lug? I would like to see the front part of your stock also. You've teased me with those photos!!

I had an Inland with that same repair. Someone suggested a Dutch repair (I think)?

Those plug repairs were done quite often. Here is one I did. Someone tried to "enhance" the WRA cartouche and really made a mess of it. I put in the plugs as a way of making the stock look better. It's a nice oval cut highwood.

With what shady says, get a dozen mags and a firepail full of ammo and get to work.

Big difference between a plugged repair (Common Arsenal Repair) and a 'Dutchman' which were approved methods to patch Knots, Sap Wood, Chips, Splinters and Blemishes to salvage walnut.
The picture below shows 2 Factory Dutchman Patches, neither was visable until the owner stripped the old dark color off.
