jls, your marking does not look like Hebrew. Yes, some Hebrew letters do have number equivalents, but not on weapons markings.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. JLS bolt

    JLS

Your bolt is a saginaw I'm guessing.
I have a mixmaster and an original with the same markings on the right lug.
One is nearly complete and the other is partial like yours. The complete one is a bell shape. Looks like it could be an inspectors mark. I don't think either of my carbines has made a trip to the mid-east. The two dots are more than likely rockwell hardness testing points. It is a test that uses a diamond point and spring pressure to measure the depth of the indent and gives you the hardness of the metal. Quite a few of carbine parts will have hardness tests on them.

    Like jonnyc,
I too would like to see the markings.
Wonder if Jim M has any info about the Hebrew markings on any of his web sites?

Anyone remember the markings on top of the Gas Cylinder on the Italyicon returns?

    USGI Dave,
    THx....
I thought that looked like the bell, but couldn't make it out from the small pic,
Had sorta forgot about the bells on SAG Bolts.

Bell symbol on top of SG bolt is an inspector's stamp. Common for them.

    Thx Rog,
    I'd forgot all about it.
Seems like a long time since handling one.
Getting old also doesn't help ;-(

P.S. Anyone ever figure out your Combo Type II-Type III Barrel Band over on the CMPicon?
