Recently acquired Colt M1911
I have recently acquired a Colt M1911 and am trying to assess it's value. I know next to nothing about Colt pistols so was hoping someone out there in forum land could help me. I am located in Western Canada
. Thanks, and looking forward to any comments.

Your pics are a bit small to really help. You need to download them to your computer and size them first.

OK Jim, will try and do that asap. I didn't realize the pictures were so small.

Your Colt appears original except it looks to have had any remaining finish removed. The grips are too nice, except for initials, to have had enough normal wear to remove all the finish. I would put the value in the $900/1000 range.

Thank you for the reply Johnny Peppers, I think the price range you indicate is about what I expected. Too bad the grips had someone's initials carved into them though.

Does anyone else have an opinion or comments on this pistol? I am in Western Canada
by the way, and any other comments would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure about Canada
, but I'm thinking the zero finish and the grips bring it down a bit. I just recently sold this righteous but only 85% 1911 for $1500. I've seen lesser guns go for more in some of the shops around here though.

Thank you pmac for the reply. your pistol looks very much like mine obviously and could likely or safely say the value of mine should be between $1000 and maybe $1500 depending on the buyer here in Canada
. I did check the serial number on a Colt sight and if I am correct my pistol seems to be made in 1918 and the sight I visited indicated that 347,000 were made that year (which of course is a lot). I forgot to photograph it but my pistol has an apparently original leather 1911 military holster too.
