Ken C. Sometimes it is the matter of breeding the commands the price, other times it is the purpose and or training the dog had. I know in my case, I paid $400 for a Germanicon Shepard. Line had many a champion. However, his parents were to large for the show ring indicating he would also be to large. After I finished training him, he could do the same things regarding obedience and protection as the professional trained dogs. You might be surprised that a professional trained protection dog can be priceed upwards to the $20,000 figure. Sometimes more. At that time, the dog could be up to a year and a half old. You would then get about 10 years of service work from that dog.
