Some postings generate more intrest than others. I have posted a few that took off and others that died on the vine. As stated above the archives contain loads of info on many subjects. Novel questions and posts with pictures seem to me to do the best in terms of replys.

Hey there Hooked, sorry about the Enfield Number 4 post. That was a cranky thread. LOL We do not all agree, some here I never agree with but I respect their station in life and their wealth of experience. I personally look forward to reviewing the gun forums everyday! My 2 cents worth is that the younger crowd is more about the black rifles with 100 gadgets on them than what it takes to revive an old Enfield or Mauser.

Montana Biker, there is just something very romantic about wood and finely machined steel.

@ Bill I whole heartedly agree. Those old guns have character and ooze history. My oldest son and my youngest have all been brainwashed by TV and Modern Warfare 3 into thinking that the black rifles are super human inventions that are the only cool weapons around. I keep asking them what happens when you are in the bush and all those batteries die??? This from a 22 year retired vet who carried those super human weapons for years. They work but you better hope the repair depot and your supply sgt. are never too far away.

I have a few of them too but they hardly ever come out to play.

Nothing to be sorry about your opinion is as valid as anyones. That particular issue just has strong opinions on both sides. Post while a bit contetious at times gave great foot for thought for us to examine our positions on the issue.

I've got to agree, the posts are getting shorter, less activety and less answers.
    Maybe it's all been said?

I could be that our attention keeps getting diverted. Folk have Facebook, texting, and more specialty sites than ever. Plus, threads can be poorly titled and not draw the attention they deserve. What's interesting about this site is the willingness to renew old threads. Often frowned upon on other sites (of which I visit just a few), we often have valuable new input a year or two after the last newest post.

Personally, I haven't been near a computer much lately, due to activities in the big woods:

The local lunch stop. No "interwebs", not even phone service:

Garrett has brought up a good point I've been wondering about myself lately. New posts have dropped dramatically in the past couple of months and discussions just don't seem to be there. I suspect part of it is it being summer with more outdoors activities, etc giving members a "real life". I tend to check in three or four times a day and on weekends especially, there just doesn't seem to be much activity right now.

I expect with colder weather and shorter days, things will start to pick up again.

It's starting to look the same on all the forums, must be some interesting sport on lately, maybe I should check the porn sites, I bet they are still active.

IMO, one of the major limiting factors for new milsurp collectors is the availability of cheap milsurp firearms and ammo. Most folks don't start right off as collectors, rather they start as shooters or hobbyists.

When prices of guns and the ammo to fire in them goes up, up, up or the supply disappears, the cheap "gateway" into the collecting world is eliminated.

In Canadaicon right now, I believe the greatest milsurp interest is in SKSs, SVTs, and Mosin Nagants, precisely because the guns and ammo are commonly available and for reasonable prices.
